Flying Mango Attack
|
Flying Mango Attack was a band that consisted of Anno, Billy, Lee and Christian Smith. It was around from the summer of 1999 to spring 2000, when Christian had to leave and the band decided to disband. Lee was booted shortly after because of his heroin addiction and Anno and Billy spent the summer recording together, before re-grouping with Lee (who had cleaned up for the time being) and bringing in Alberto to form KjD in the Autumn of 2000. Flying Mango Attack never played many gigs and wound up as more of a short term project rather than a long term band, yet the group produced a fantastic album (Karmageddon) during the Christmas of 1999. FMA is a very different style to KjD, but one can still hear the festering beginnings of where Lee, Anno and Billy were preparing to go. KjD still played some Flying Mango Attack songs at gigs (such as Cancel, The Absurd Bird and Collapse of the Wave Function), adding a gnarled and hardcore KjD twist to them. A lot of these songs you may have heard, either from the Dreams of Waking album, or from the Anno site, but some (particularly the one's written by Billy - I'm An Idiot, Give Me Love, Brass and Foetal Position) haven't been available for download before, and none have ever been made available in their original Flying Mango Attack format.
